I have six children, and I intend to create a book for each child. I decided to do my daughter’s book first. Kyleigh is the only girl and is the oldest child. She’s 14 now and thinks I hate her half the time; or she hates me. I wanted to publish something for her to let her know how much I really do love her. So, my book is all about her! NO BOYS ALLOWED! There are NO pictures of her brothers in there, it’s all about Kyleigh (and a few pics of ME).
Having six children, ages 14, 13, 5, 2, and 10 month-old twins, really makes it hard to give her as much attention as she may want. Just look at the picture I took of her today, holding that book (a month after getting the book)! Look at that smile on her face!

My girls have always loved matching games, especially the Disney Princess Memory game they got for Christmas last year. But now they have something they like even more. On launch day last week, I jumped at the chance to create a Memory card game for my girls. I can’t believe how easy it was.
I just looked through my Heritage Studio photo albums and grabbed a few of my favorite pictures of the kids, their grandparents, and aunts and uncles. I found pictures that would remind us of specific stories from our family’s adventures. I used the new Page Manager feature to make two copies of each card. Then I created a simple title for the backside and added some fun Premier Art. It took me about 15 minutes and I had created my girls’ favorite game.
The game arrived on Wednesday, 8 days after I produced it. I think we’ve already played Family Memory 10 times. I figure by this weekend we’ll probably hit a couple dozen. I don’t know about you, but in my house I’m tired of seeing everything the girls play wrapped with images of Aurora, Belle, and Jasmine. No offense to Disney, but I’d much rather play a game with Whitney, Sophia, and Ruby.
What’s more, the game reminds my kids of some fun memories that they share spontaneously when they play. Memory Game now has a new meaning in our house.

After learning about the seriousness of Doug’s condition last week, I knew that there was a very real possibility I wouldn’t get to see him in person again. Of course, I was pleased to interact with so many of our consultants at our Southern California Regional event, but the feeling was bittersweet as I thought about the suddenness and shock of Doug’s diagnosis. Because of my absence, I missed out on the fireworks of Doug’s first few days in the hospital, including revision of his diagnosis from chronic leukemia to a rare and serious form of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and the beginning of chemotherapy. We shared some poignant phone conversations as I began to contemplate the business, and life, without my colleague and friend.
Well, today I was able to see a much healthier looking Doug, certainly not out of the woods as he has just begun the early stages of treatment, but definitely healthier than the last time I saw him when he had, in his words, “one foot in the grave.” He’s received world-class treatment during this truly life-saving week.
Doug has tremendous gifts as a visionary and entrepreneur. Together, we were able to share some powerful thoughts about life and how Heritage Makers can continue to make such a positive difference in the lives of so many, particularly of our consultants. There is still much uncertainty and, I’m sure, there will be more surprises. But I know I’m looking forward to Doug’s influence and partnership for many more years to come.
The 8×8 storybook has received Today’s Creative Home Arts Seal of Approval! This is an incredible honor and one Heritage Makers is pleased to accept. Look for the magazine article to appear in the July/August issue.
The Seal of Approval is determined by a thorough testing with dozens of independent testers. This seal is recognized by hundreds of thousands of Today’s Creative Home Arts Club members and now Heritage Makers is among this elite group to receive this honor!
It’s time to Race to Reunion. Are you excited about heading to Disneyland?Lena Fleming is sure excited about Reunion 2008 and has already started racing. Check out her story:
“After arriving home from the Utah Regional, I had to quickly shift gears back into being a wife, mother, hostess of house guests, and much more. After greeting my family, I headed to the grocery store. I got my groceries and proceeded to the checkout line. The clerk then asked me, “What are you racing for?” I was surprised when she asked me this. And then I remembered I was still dressed in the same clothes I wore to Regionals – complete with my racing button.
The clerk smiled and said, ‘You must be going to Disneyland. What for?’ I told her a little bit about Heritage Makers and what I was racing for. She then asked me for my business card. I got her contact information and told her I would set her up with an account as soon as I got home. The clerk told me she had always wanted to create a storybook but nobody had ever offered to set her up with an account.
Thank you, Heritage Makers, for the button! I have an excited new client simply for wearing my button. It works!”
