Gift Giving Three Ways!

October 20, 2015

You may be in denial, but the holidays are fast approaching, which means it’s time to plan those handmade gifts. I love giving gifts I can customize for each recipient, even if the concept is the same or similar. That’s how today’s blog post came to be. The IKEA Rusch Clock is an inexpensive base that can be adapted to any design for a variety of people. If you don’t have an IKEA near you, they sell these online as well.

Our Memories for Life papers and punch

Our Memories for Life cardstock and punch

This first clock takes advantage of several collections from Our Memories for Life. Most pieces were scraps (leftover from layouts and cards made earlier) so it was the perfect project to use those for. The collections used are Party Brights by Katie Pertiet, School Days by Katie Pertiet, and Playful Primary. But the best part of this clock was using the Monarch Butterfly Pocket Paper Punch. It is so easy to quickly punch a handful of colorful butterflies with this punch! You could also add photos to this design for a personal touch or the recipient’s favorite quote. And if butterflies aren’t your thing, try one of the other four punches.

Heritage Makers 8x8 Scrap Page

Heritage Makers 8×8 Scrap Page

The Heritage Makers clock uses an 8×8 Scrap Page for the base. The design includes a circle frame that included the background paper, numbers from an alphabet, photos from a trip earlier this year, and a favorite travel quote. I loved being able to design this using photos from our trip. Once it was printed, I traced the clock on the back of the scrap page and cut along the line to get the right size. Easy peasy!

Anthology by Lisa Bearnson Embellish Your Story

The Embellish Your Story kit from Anthology by Lisa Bearnson includes six sheets of pre-cut felt that were so fun to use for the clock pieces. The bright colors and playful look of the shapes will brighten any room! I had a hard time narrowing down what to include because there were so many cute designs. Also, the background is cardstock from the Pastel Cardstock package. Again, photos can be added for a personal touch.

These clocks are so easy and fun to customize. I didn’t adhere the base to the clock so I can swap out the design every few months if I want. In fact, wouldn’t it be fun to have a different design for each month? Oh, the possibilities!
